Though we inherited our civilizational foundations from the United Kingdom, Americans have opposite views to our counterparts across the pond when it comes to the importance we assign to paying our taxes. Brits are much more likely to see paying taxes as a duty to building a functioning, more equitable society, while Americans' uncompromising individualism often sees taxation as a burden imposed by the government.
