This chart shows the average annual consumer expenditures for the year 2012. Health insurance routinely consumes nearly 60 percent of overall health care expenditures. Gasoline expenditures are largely dependent on gasoline prices. Despite gasoline expenditures remaining relatively stable in 2012, overall expenditures on transportation continued to rise from 2010.
