Nearly half of all Millennials (born 1981-1994) associate themselves with neither major political party, the largest proportion of independents of any generational-group and over 10 percentage-points greater than the Silent and Boomer generations. Similarly, for the Gen X generation (1965-1980), party affiliation for both parties has decreased in the last two decades, as the proportion of independents has reached 42%.
