Suicide rates among the states expresses an unsettling correlation between where you live and the likelihood of suicide. Mountain states (Rockies), make up four-of-five highest suicide-rate states, a 18.3 average rate. The Mid-Atlantic region (New York, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania) has the lowest average rate, 9.8. The United States, as a whole, ranks 34th of 109 nations in suicide rate.
