Women are disproportionately represented in low-wage positions making up two-thirds of all minimum wage workers. Minority women are more likely than white women to work these jobs. A majority of women still make only 77 cents for every dollar that a man earns for equal work. Poverty rates are higher for women, especially non-white women, when compared with men.
