Young adults are living at home in higher numbers because moving out might mean living in poverty. 56% of 18-24 year olds lived at home in 2012, the highest rate since the 1970s. Over 4.6 million adults under age 25 are “householders,” renting or owning a place in their name. They are constrained by low incomes, living costs and debt.
