In the battle for the hearts and minds of the people, it doesn't seem like the Republican party is faring very well. While nearly equal portion of the public believe that the Democratic party favors the rich, middle class, and the poor, a strong majority of Americans believe that Republicans cater to the interests of the rich. Republicans and the Republican party face a substantial perception problem, and whether true or not, it's difficult to win elections when the public believes you are beholden to the 1%.
The rhetoric on the Democratic side is "our economy is rigged in favor of billionaires" whereas Jeb! literally said "I want more millionaires" in the debate. Wanting more millionaires is fine but using that point to ignore the essence of the question is wrong. I'm not surprised by this data.
