Since 2001, a growing percentage of working Americans are expecting to rely on Social Security as a major source of their retirement income. 2015 marked the highest point in the trend to date, with over a third of nonretirees expecting Social Security to be an important factor in their retirement. This trend is troubling because given its current trajectory, the Social Security Trust Fund is projected to run dry by 2033.
