Although many government reformist activists believe that initiating a program of government data sharing will bring about a more responsive and transparent government, the public is divided over whether the initiative will be successful. The initiative seeks to make public the information and data collected by the federal government in order to hold those in public office accountable. According to a recent Pew Poll, however, just a little over half of the public believe that the initiative will result in more accountability.
