Overall confidence in newspapers has dropped from 51% of Americans having a great deal of confidence in 1979, to just 23% in 2013. Liberals' confidence in newspapers jumped from 23% to 39% the year after Obama was elected. In 2013, liberals (31% confident) still remain more confident in newspapers than conservatives (15% confident).
