After peaking in 2004 with 330 unruly passengers, the number of unruly plane passengers has decreased by more than 60% to 129 unruly passengers in 2012. An unruly passenger is defined as a passenger who interferes with the duties of a crewmember. This number also includes persons who assault, threaten, or intimidate a crewmember. (Security violations are excluded)
