In 2011, there were a total of 10,083 wildlife strikes by civil aircraft in the United States. 96.5% of animals struck by aircraft were birds, but 1.4% were bats and 2% were terrestrial mammals. There were also 15 reptiles struck. (Wildlife strike reporting is voluntary)
