A study by the Civilian Complaint Review Board found that approximately half the officers (46.9%) involved in chokeholds had 5 or fewer years of tenure. This information comes after the tragic death of Eric Garner who was choked by an NYPD officer. Daniel Pantaleo, the cop filmed choking Garner, served 8 years at the time of the incident in 2013.
