While in 2000, roughly a third of women, aged 15-44, lived in states ranked "hostile to abortion," that proportion increased to over half of reproductive-age women by 2011. All 13 Southern states fell into the category by this time, up from just half at the start of the decade. No state became less hostile to abortion in this period.
