I found it really interesting that in the last couple of years, the media coverage of the daily climate has significantly dropped. My prediction is that a few years ago, global warming was a huge topic, and now that is not the case.

I completely agree. I'm surprised few have noticed. This is the most important issue of our lifetimes, however the media machine is doing what was created for and that is to distract.

When people are worried about their pocketbooks and putting food on the table, then tend to not focus as much on the longer-term problems of climate change. I think that the media reflects this trend, and rather than distracting the public, simply presents people with the most pressing issues at that specific time.
