Statistically, based on the FBI’s Uniform Crime Report’s Supplemental Homicide Reports
(1976-2007) the race of the subject could change the sentence results. For example, 1.2% of White Offenders found guilty killing an African Americans were sentenced to Life without a chance for parole, as opposed to 2.3% for African Americans found guilty of killing African Americans. Despite this, people are more likely to kill within their own race, as African Americans killed 24,188 African Americans, while White's only killed 1651 African Americans.
