This impoverished nation exhibits extremely low life expectancy for women. After three decades of war, a broken healthcare system, religious extremism, and an increase in drug use, it is no wonder that women within the country perish at a young age. Greater than 50% of brides are under 16, and one woman dies in childbirth every 30 minutes. Domestic violence is so common that 87% of women admit to experiencing it. Afghanistan is the only country in which the female suicide rate is higher than that of males. The list goes on. This is EXACTLY what recent Nobel Laureate #Malala is fighting against

So sad to see a nation that was once rapidly developing fall back centuries. My mothers Afghanistan was one of peace, where women were given healthcare access and educational freedom, only 30 years ago. I hope it turns around soon!
