Obama and Democrats in Congress want to raise minimum wage to $10.10 an hour, up from $7.25. Americans United for Change is challenging politicians to live on $77 a week, after housing. Part of the pushback to raising minimum wage is the effect on jobs. Economists are split on the issue, but agree that wage raises reduce poverty.
