While Congress continues to dramatically reduce social-spending, including food stipends and education, reports reveal the magnitude of child poverty in the world's richest countries-- 30 million children. Even among countries with similar per capita income and economic development, there exist huge disparities, which, as UNICEF director Gordon Alexander asserts, evinces how determinant public policy is on curtailing child-deprivation.
