Given their proximity to each other, it is difficult to imagine two countries as radically different from each other as North and South Korea. Despite the fact that North Korea's population is about half that of South Korea, North Korea's authoritarian regime detains more than 120 times the number of political prisoners as South Korea. Interestingly, South Korea's economy is about 20 times larger than that of North Korea.
