Between Shark Week and the media attention given to sharks with the increase in attacks off the coasts of the Carolinas, I decided to see just how much damage sharks do. Between 2005 and 2014, there were a total of 701 shark attacks worldwide, which resulted in 59 human fatalities. On the flip side, according to a study in the journal Marine Policy, humans are responsible for killing an average of 100 million sharks annually. This has caused many shark species around the world to become endangered. I wonder what Human Week would look like to sharks?
