A recent Pew poll revealed that Americans harbor a significant level of skepticism toward the future of Social Security. The vast majority of Americans believe that, by the time they retire, Social Security will be a shadow of its former self. About seven out of ten Americans think that Social Security will offer them either benefits at reduced levels or no benefits at all.
