An increasing number of organizations are getting their products fair trade certified, and for good reason. 26% of consumers don't mind paying a little extra for fair trade products. In addition to the numerous social justice benefits and the positive impact of an organization joining the fair trade movement, a business' profits can also be positively influenced by a Fair Trade certification.
Fairtrade also comes under a lot of criticism as well. There have been many faults observed from the Fairtrade system, namely that its lack of tracking how much extra retailers charge for Fairtrade goods makes it difficult to find out how much money actually reaches farmers and impoverished areas.
