Support for the LGBTQ community in the United States has risen significantly over the past few years, though Americans are fairly divided as to why it is that some people are gay and others not. 42% believe it is an inevitable result of a predisposition present at birth. A cumulative total of 50%, however, believe it is for reasons and influences that arise later in life. Namely, 42% of Americans believe it is simply a choice that some have decided to make.
