2014 was truly the year mobile became mainstream. The growth of digital video viewing skyrocketed from Q2 2013 to Q2 2014. The 18-34 age range posted a 53% increase in digital viewing. Even more remarkable? The 35-49 range grew 80% and the 50-64 range grew 60%! We are more digitally connected every year on different technologies and devices.
It is remarkable to see how irresistible new technologies have become across all generations. When early smartphones first came out, there was much of the social media revolution yet to take place. Connection to the Internet has become among the most basic draws for consumers of new phones, when just a few years ago a stable mobile web browser was cutting edge.
The rate of change of technology is incredible. Social Media has exploded because of it. In a few years will everyone have a smart watch? Will one of the technologies on the left fall out of favor?
