A report has found that for the 200 most politically active companies, every dollar spent in campaign contributions and federal lobbying translated to $750 in federal business and subsidies-- that is, $5.8 billion spent, and $4.4 trillion received. The relationship is symbotic though. Over the last decade, an estimated 400 lawmakers and nearly 5,400 congressional staffers have become lobbyists.
