Since 2011, there have been at least 7,762 Occupy protesters arrested in 122 different U.S. cities since Occupy Wall Street began in 2011. However, after 2011, the movement quickly lost its radical momentum as the number of Occupy arrests quickly began decreasing. So far in 2013, there have only been 43 arrests, compared to the 5,790 arrests in 2011.
Are arrests a valid measure of energy? I'd like to hear why. Judging by the number of websites and Fb pages with names containing the word Occupy I'd say the movement is still energetic and working. Isn't stasis death? Isn't it costly and doesn't it get old sitting in jail? Occupy has evolved into something more productive.
