Justifiable homicides are homicides in which the killer is found to have acted lawfully, as in instances of self-defense. For both blacks and whites, such homicides are most likely to involve members of the same race. Compared to homicides as a whole, the chance of a killer being deemed to have "justifiably" killed their victim is 458% greater when the killer is white and the victim is black.
