As Stand-Your-Ground laws become more popular throughout the Union, so too does claiming self-defense to justify committed homicide. Particularly unsettling, Kentucky, whose average rate in reported years prior to the law was .28%, shot up nearly 630% in the 5 years after its passing. Florida's increase was relatively more moderate, roughly 250%.
