One million Americans use tanning salons daily, and nearly 30 million each year. Using tanning beds before age 35, increases the risk of melanoma by 75%. The WHO categorizes indoor tanning as Group 1, the most dangerous cancer-causing substances, including plutonium and arsenic. In melanoma cases involving individuals 18-29 that used tanning beds, 76% were attributed to indoor tanning.
