Since 1997, there has been a staggering 40% decline in the number of black journalists working at newspapers. This is steeper than the rate of decline of whites, Hispanics, and Asians. This drop coincides with the financial hardships journalism faces today. According to Pew however, there is a higher representation of minorities in local television journalism.
