When Americans were asked whether they prefer to have one party in control of Congress and the White House at the same time versus consistently splitting power along party lines, the result was a mirror image flip-flopping between the Bush and Obama presidencies. We only like a power-spitting scenario when the opposite party is in control of the executive.
