On October 10, 1964, the Games of the XVIII Olympiad kicked off in Tokyo, Japan. The chart shows the medal table for the 1964 Games. Two interesting things to point out: 1) the Nations from the former Soviet Bloc dominated the medal count; and 2) Japan, as a host nation, finished third place in the overall metdals count.
