A new National Health Interview Survey by the Center for Disease Control was the first ever to include sexual orientation. In the study, gay- identified individuals were more likely to smoke, exercise and get tested for HIV. Interestingly, less than 3 percent identified as gay, lesbian, or bisexual—a smaller proportion than the 3.5 to 4 percent found in other surveys.
