The average wait time in a U.S. emergency department (ED) was 22.4 minutes longer in urban EDs than in non-urban EDs. Americans treated in metropolitan area EDs had to wait 62.4 minutes, while Americans treated in non-metropolitan area EDs only had to wait 40 minutes.
