According to a new NBC/Wall Street Journal poll, the government shutdown has been a “jaw-dropping” (the phrase used by the bipartisan NBC/WSJ polling team) disaster for the Republican Party, leaving it with historically low levels of support. A startling 24 percent of those polled approve of the job Congressional Republicans are doing.
