The issue of child marriage is one that is truly global in nature. Countries from all over the world permit the wedding of young girls; approximately one in three girls in the developing world are married before the age of 18. According to a study by Girls Not Brides, Niger has the highest rate of child brides: more than three fourths of young women in that country are married before the age of 18.
