On October 14, Twitter laid off 8% of its global workforce, or 336 people. While that downsizing might seem pretty drastic, it is important to recognize the context of these layoffs. Since its humble beginnings with eight employees, Twitter has since exploded in popularity. By June of 2015, Twitter was a large source of employment, commanding a workforce of over four thousand individuals. With such a meteoric rise, a little restructuring is not completely unexpected.
