There are jokes that are tasteless, then there are those that are considered to be wholly unacceptable. A recent poll revealed that, when trying to be funny, avoid the subjects of rape and the Holocaust. Regardless of the context and joke itself, the majority of Americans find those two topics to be completely off-limits. Interestingly, however, jokes about race and gender are largely context-dependent.
