A majority of the 800,000 people trafficked across national borders per year are women. However, this does not account for most victims of trafficking who are relocated within national borders. Because a majority of the victims are women and a majority of the victims are trafficked into commercial sexual exploitation, human trafficking is a means of reducing women’s agency.
