An overwhelming majority of Americans believe that if a fetus were to die in the womb of a physically assaulted women, the aggressor should be charged with murder. This issue straddles the same fine line that has marked the abortion debate in the United States for decades. Is it appropriate to charge someone with murder for the violent death of a fetus when voluntary termination of pregnancy is not considered homicide?
