Over 1800 teen suicides and fewer than 20 deaths by school shootings per year. Why are we considering spending money on school security? Every dollar spent on suicide prevention will be 90 times more likely to save a child’s life. BTW, a leading cause of mass shootings? Suicide ideation.

Interesting. From the cdc link, homicide is still beating out suicide -- it's just that school shootings make up such a small percentage of homicides.

True. Our approach to homicide prevention is not very effective in this country. Beefing up our school security will certainly do us little good in that area. It will only further feed the gun/security industry and drain our education dollars.
