We all know college can be expensive, but over the last few decades tuition costs in the U.S. have been increasing relentlessly. Student borrowing rose from $41 to $85 billion from 1997-2008 showing students are becoming more comfortable with incurring massive debt in pursuit of an education.
It's incredible to see just how much the cost of college has gone up in real terms. As a college student, this is absolutely shocking! I seriously worry about the generations that follow us! How are they supposed to compete in a world where they are expected to invest in higher education, yet the potential cost and loans are too much of a burden? Will the USA ever adjust its out of date Financial Aid system?
Seeing this graph is shocking even though as a college student, I live this truth everyday. Seeing education get more expensive to the point where students cant pay anymore is saddening. How can we fix this? Will college ever be affordable so that students wont have to worry about how they will pay their tuition each semester?
