A majority of Republican voters born after 1981 support the legalization of gay marriage, thus becoming the first generation of the GOP to support same-sex marriage at a rate over 50%. It seems that the GOP's role as a socially conservative party will come to lose this identity to its socially liberal, though economically conservative youth voters.
