Alan Greenspan, former head of the Federal Reserve Bank, predicted today that Greece's exit from the euro system is inevitable. It seems possible, with the popularity of the European Union's political leadership languishing near all-time lows in Greece following the huge upset win of the antiestablishment Syriza Party. Perhaps because of its longtime role as a symbolic counterweight to the West, Russia still holds on to markedly higher approval from the Greeks, a dangerous stat for the prospect of an EU united against perceived Russian aggression in the ongoing conflict in east Ukraine.
