Roughly half of all 7th-12th graders experience sexual harassment in a single year, with 80% experiencing it sometime in their school career. Harassment is even more stark for girls, 56%, in a single year. Most harassers feel their actions were "no big deal" or funny, revealing the extreme disconnect that they have with their effect on victims. School administrators should work to emphasize the long-term impact that such harassment has on students, in addition to punishing and condemning the action.
