When the Zimmerman case first broke into the national spotlight, it caused a stir markedly along racial lines. Over half of blacks reported to have followed the case 'very closely,' as opposed to the 19% rate among nonblacks. Additionally, 4 out of 10 nonblacks did not follow the story too closely, or at all.
