Stricter gun laws mean fewer people with firearms, and the difference between Canada and the U.S. is quite obvious. While Canada observes stricter laws, such as requiring gun owners to be licensed, the U.S. generally does not (though a handful of states do require certain forms of licensing). And, Canadians have no constitutional right to bear arms, unlike the U.S. The result? The U.S. has the highest rate of gun ownership in the world. While Canada has plenty of firearms compared to the rest of the world, it is simply dwarfed by the United States.
