Nearly thirty percent of Indian Americans were employed in science and engineering in 2010, giving them a median income of $88,000, compared with $66,000 for all Asian American households, and $49,800 for all U.S. households. One factor? A large proportion of Indian Americans entered the country under the H1-B Visa program, for "highly skilled foreign workers in designated 'specialty occupations.'"
