While a plurality of women are tenured in academia, the figure in comparison to male tenure-ship is low. Men in academia are tenured 62% of the time vs. 44% for women (2011-2012). Interestingly, a greater proportion of women are in tenure-track positions than men (24% vs. 19%), but this does not translate into tenure as often for women.
